About "Under Water's Mercy"
A young Native American woman returns to her family in Southeast Louisiana to find a man-made environmental crisis threatening their way of life. Hurricane Katrina and the BP oil leak are just the latest rounds in this century-old cycle that hinders Monique's quest to find a place in her community. Monique must overcome the loss of her house, her father, and her partner- and redefine the meaning of home.

About the Filmmaker
Sharon Linezo Hong is a first-time filmmaker with both film theory and technical training from Massachusetts College of Art and Design. Sharon's passion for films grew in part from her experience working as a cooperative member of San Francisco's Red Vic Movie House. She has completed several short personal and industrial pieces; Under Water's Mercy is her first full-length documentary.
